There will be 133 players competing this week, with $12,000 going towards the first place winner. The field is made up of Section Professionals from the 41 PGA Sections. The winner of this event, if eligible, will qualify for the PGA Professional Championship next year. The top four finishers will be exempt from qualifying for the national assistant event next year.

Brian Mackey of White Beeches, Alex Beach of Baltusrol, Carl Hays and Bryan Dougherty of Hollywood, and Michael Donato of Essex Fells will represent the Section.

Since its inception in 1977, Mike Zack, formerly of Baltusrol, is the only New Jersey Section player to win the national assistant event. PGA Tour player Jim Herman, who was a former Section Professional at Trump Bedminster, was a runner-up in 2005 and 2007.
