Jon M. Pritsch Memorial Cup



About - The Jon M. Pritsch Cup is played in honor of Jon M. Pritsch, a former competitive New Jersey golfer who had an impressive matchplay record in his junior career, and died tragically in May of 1991 at the age of 17. The Jon M. Pritsch Memorial Fund has raised over $175,000 and given over 100 scholarships to juniors who hope to pursue a career in golf. The Philadelphia and New Jersey Section alternate between hosting sites each year. Next year, the New Jersey Section will serve as host to the 16th Annual Jon M. Pritsch Cup. The Site and Date are to be determined.
 
The format for the Cup Matches are as follows: each player plays an individual match and a concurrent four-ball match at the same time. The first year, each hole was worth 18 points for a total of 324. In 2008, both Sections agreed that each individual match and the concurrent four-ball match would be worth 1 point for a total of 18 available points (3 points available in each group, 6 groups total).

2021 - Team New Jersey defeated Team Philadelphia at the 2021 Jon M. Memorial Pritsch Cup at Philmont Country Club (North Course) on Friday, August 20. The final score was 13.5-4.5 in favor of Team New Jersey. Team New Jersey was represented by Ava Lozito, Vidhi Lakhawala, Arjun Caprihan, Harry Cohen, Priyam Nayak, Mihir Roperia, Richie Reck, Liam Pasternak, Jun Chun, Isaiah Williams, Devan Patel, and Ethan Engmann. Team New Jersey now holds a 11-3-1 record against Team Philadelphia. Congratulations to Team New Jersey!

2020 - Team New Jersey defeated Team Philadelphia at the 2020 Jon M. Memorial Pritsch Cup at Forsgate Country Club. The final score was 12-6 in favor of Team New Jersey. Team New Jersey was represented by Ava Lozito, Samantha Galantini, Hunter Po, Shane Quinn, Priyam Nayak, Ethan Lee, Kevin Ha, Reed Greyserman, Jun Chun, Joey Giamanco, Micahel Foley, & Arjun Malik. Team New Jersey now holds a 10-3-1 record against Team Philadelphia. Congratulations to Team New Jersey!

2019 - Team New Jersey retained the Pritsch Cup in 2019 after tying Team Philadelphia, 9-9 at Saucon Valley Country Club.

Team New Jersey earned the tiebreaker over Team Philadelphia due to having won the title the previous year. The defending champion must finish with nine points or better to remain winner. There are a total of 18 points available  Team New Jersey now holds a 9-3-1 record against the Philadelphia squad.

This tournament is in memory of Jon M. Pritsch, a 17-year-old who passed away in May 1991. Pritsch was recognized as a nationally ranked competitive golfer before his passing.

This was the 15th edition of the Pritsch Cup, which is mirrored as a Ryder Cup style match play event. It brings together the top 12 juniors in the New Jersey and Philadelphia Section. 

Each year, both the Philadelphia and New Jersey Section rotate as hosts. The New Jersey Section will host in 2022.
