Jim McGovern shares his thoughts following his first round at the 2017 U.S. Senior Open at Salem Country Club.
Q. What were your thoughts on today’s round?
- “I played good. I hit it solid. I just didn’t hit my iron very crisp. Overall, I’m happy. I made some good putts when I needed to keep the round going. I didn’t do too many bad things.”
Q. What are your thoughts on the greens this week.
- “Greens are good. On 16, 17, 18, they’re a little quicker. They definitely have a little pace on them if you’re on the wrong side, but it’s a typical Donald Ross.
Q. What are you going to look to do tomorrow?
- “I’m just going to try and find my rhythm early in my round tomorrow. I kind of found it in the middle and it was just a little off in the end.
Q. What was your goal at the beginning of this week?
- Play well. Give myself a lot of chances and try my hardest.
