Day 1 of the 2021 Match Play Championship came with a bit of drama on Monday, May 10 at Echo Lake CC. The Round of 64 was highlighted by Defending Champion, Danny Lewis winning against Ryan McLean 5&4, Ryan Hager, the 53 seed, upsetting Brent Studer the 12 seed, Ken Pridgen, the 47 seed upsetting Greg Baker, the 18 seed, and Noah Davis, the 51 seed upsetting Marc Issler, the 14 seed. The Round of 32 was highlighted by Brian Varsey, the 36 seed upsetting the 4 seed and 2019 Match Play Champion, Tyler Hall.
