BEDMINSTER, NJ – The New Jersey Section, PGA of America (NJPGA) today announced Weatherman as a new Presenting Sponsor for the NJPGA’s first major event of the season, the Match Play Championship. Weatherman’s commitment to golf has been key and can be seen in a number of their products such as the Arnold Palmer, Ryder Cup and Folds of Honor collections. This partnership is further proof of their confidence in the growing popularity at the green grass level.

As part of this agreement, Weatherman will serve as one of four Presenting Sponsors of the Match Play Championship to be contested at the Echo Lake Country Club in Westfield, NJ from May 10th – 12th. In addition to the event, all weather related push notifications to local PGA Professionals in advance of events such as rain delays, frost delays or other inclement weather related delays will be presented by Weatherman.

“The addition of Weatherman as a Presenting Sponsor is a sign of the company’s commitment to the game and business of golf,” said NJPGA Executive Director Chris Bauer. “Not only are we excited to see this partnership flourish for Weatherman and our PGA Professionals, we are also excited to add another best in class brand to our current list of Section sponsors.”

In addition to the above mentioned sponsorship benefits, Weatherman products will also be included as part of the annual NJPGA Junior Tour Membership package. With more focus on health and safety, we have seen a large number of junior players utilizing umbrellas for sun protection in addition to rain and believe the gifts will be well received and highly utilized in a variety of conditions throughout the golf season.

“We're proud to be part of the NJPGA community and to support our Junior players,” said Weatherman Chief Revenue Officer, Tyler Kupper. “When weather plays a role, we’re confident the professionals and Junior players will be protected from all of the elements, including the sun as each of our umbrellas is designed with a UPF 50+ barrier.”

About Weatherman

When one of the nation's most trusted meteorologists, Rick Reichmuth, was unable to find an umbrella that met his standards, he set out to design his own—and Weatherman was born.

Weatherman is the only umbrella on the market to blend unmatched quality with smart technology and ingenious design. The Weatherman app pairs with the Droplet Bluetooth tracker to detect the forecast, then reminds you when you need to take your umbrella along. The tracker also ensures you always know where to find your umbrella and alerts you when you may have left it behind.

Recognized by The Today Show, Fox News, GQ, Parents.com and Forbes, among others, Weatherman was named Best Umbrella in Golf Digest’s Editors’ Choice Awards in 2018, 2019 and 2020, and proudly serves as the umbrella supplier of the U.S. Ryder Cup team and American Junior Golf Association (AJGA).
